“Under The Same Sky” — An Exhibit by Kwanza Humphrey

Native Kansas City artist Kwanza Humphrey  explores what it means to be human in today’s charged world.  In his large format paintings and pencil studies, Kwanza explores the individual responsibility of caretaker for the planet and our fellow human.  In a world so divided by what makes us different, Kwanza asserts that we are more connected through our emotions than we are divided by our ideology.

Celebrate Kwanza’s opening at a reception from 5:30-7pm Friday, May 3.

 

New Seasonal Dinner Menu


Starting this week, we introduce new items available for our seasonally changing Dinner menu.

Come in and try our new Espresso Chili Pork Chop, a 12 ounce KC strip or the Vera Cruz Fish of the Day. All new items made from local Kansas and Missouri farms.

Check back soon for changes to our lunch, breakfast and brunch menus.

It’s Warming Up At The Farmhouse

Warm weather has arrived in Kansas City and The Farmhouse.  Our patio is now open for outdoor seating for the season.

Come on by and have a drink or meal while enjoying nature.

Pig N Whiskey Thursdays

Every Thursday night our culinary team creates a special plate showcasing locally produced pork served with gourmet sides for only $20. To accompany the pig plate, Angelica creates a whiskey flight for $10. It’s the best deal in town!!!

This week we’re serving agave-cumin rendered pork belly with a Brussels sprout and radish slaws finished with a cilantro lime cream, a homemade churro with a chocolate ganache, squash and chili soup with poblano cream accent and apples cooked in a peppadew gastrique, and southwest mac and cheese with poblanos, onions and a Cajun cream sauce.  All this for only $20!

That’s one of the most frequently asked questions we get!! We’re always looking for new team members! Please bring your filled-out Job Application from Wednesday to Friday between 2pm & 4pm.  If you have a resume or letters of recommendations that you can bring with you at the time, that would be an extra bonus.  Our managers will contact you to schedule an interview if you qualify.

There is no better feeling that the happiness we get when receiving a message from our guests with photos of their own version of our dishes that they made at home.  We got once a photo via Facebook message from a guest who loved our melon salad so much, that before leaving the restaurant they asked us about every farmer we used for that dish & where to find them. Our guest then went to all the farmers market where our farmers would set up & purchased from our same farmers, bought the same awesome ingredients, went home and made the melon salad for their family. That was AWESOME!! It made us SO happy to see that, we are still writing about it 2.5 years later!
You may have seen us use the tags #EatLocal #SupportLocal #ShopLocal #Localvore, etc on our social media posts and we don’t use them just for you to come and join us for a wonderful meal; we want you to do so outside of our doors as well!  That is why we post our list of our farmers on our website and on our chalkboards in our Lounge and Gallery rooms: so you can see where we get our awesome produce and meats, and get the same quality ingredients from the awesome local families we work with, for your own family.

Every month on our newsletter we showcase a local farmer or company we work with. Why? Because we want you to know where the produce and meats that make it to your plate come from. We want you to support your local businesses and keep the wonderful and hardworking families from KS & MO afloat. We want you to be able to get the best quality ingredients not only when you dine with us, but also in your own home.

What is: Pig & Whiskey?

If you’ve never joined us for Pig & Whiskey, you’re in for a treat!  We started Pig & Whiskey two years ago as a monthly event on the third Thursday of the month.  After a while we took it off, and boy! Did we get an earful from our guests! So now Pig & Whiskey happens EVERY THURSDAY from 5:00 to 10:00 PM and we have wonderful pork specials & small plates which are perfect as an appetizer or to share; plus all our Whiskey, Rye and Bourbon collection is 50% off!! What a great way to try something new or enjoy your favorite liquor at a wonderfully discounted price!

So bring your coworkers, bring your date, bring your friends, make it a neighbor night, or just enjoy it all by yourself (Who said you have to share?!). Reservations are not required, though highly encouraged!  See you soon!

We sometimes do jump on the #ThrowBackThursday bandwagon, and we thought that today was one of those days.  Remember that wonderful little short video directed by Mr. Anthony Ladesich for Visit KC, which featured two of our wonderful farms: Gibbs Rd. Community Farms/Cultivate Kansas City and Wood Mood? Of course, it featured our very own Chef Michael Foust and our beloved The Farmhouse!
