KCLLS Luau Madness!

Our dear friend, Katy Gondring, is in the running for the Midwest Chapter of the Kansas City Leukemia & Lymphoma Society‘s title of Woman of the Year, and we were thrilled when Katy asked us to help her throw the largest fundraising event of her campaign — a luau!  Fortunately, Chef Foust spent a few years in the Hawaiian Isles, so he’s quite familiar with the cuisine.  And he didn’t disappoint!  🙂

In addition to other traditionally Hawaiian tasty treats, Chef Foust roasted a beautiful pig (she took up half the dining room!) and served up beautiful pork cuts to a ravenous crowd…

Katy had some amazing prizes for her silent auction; the crowd was crazy for the Periodic Table beach towels!  Our Luau bartender, Margot, created an amazing rum punch for the event, and our good friends at The Photo Bus came by to help us document our grand time.  🙂

Thanks to all our volunteers and friends for helping make the Luau a great event — we had a wonderful time and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Katy’s victory as KCLLS Woman of the Year!

Good-bye 2013, Hello 2014!

What a great year we’ve had! We have gone through quite a few changes this year, and they have all been for the best.  We have met so many new friends, customers, farmers, staff members… We’ve also been part of so many celebrations! Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, babies, and more! THANK YOU KANSAS CITY! We could not have done it without you, and we know it!

We are nearing the end of the year, and we still have a few things up our sleeves, and we want to share them with you!  We’ll be closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, but have no fear!  We will be ringing in the New Year with a special dinner, and would love for you to join us!  You can reserve your spot over the phone or online, and if you already have plans but would still like to start the year with us, join us for a New Years Day Brunch!!

Reservations are already coming in, and questions regarding the menu as well… we are finishing the details on our menu and we’ll post teasers on our Facebook/Twitter accounts as we get the “Ok” from our Chefs.

And don’t forget, we LOVE to hear from you!  Share your photos & the  #RoosterLove with us and let us know you are a #FHFoodie!  We love interacting with you on social media, or responding to questions, comments, etc. when you contact us on our page.

Braissed Missouri buffalo, Simply Food’s pickled beets, Gibbs Road Farms arugula, house made Parmesan cracker

First Course

Simply Food’s cantaloupe & The Farmhouse’s garden mint

Second Course

Spinach salad, crispy chevre cheese medallion, Crum’s Heirloom Farm grilled peaches and local honey-balsamic vinaigrette

Third Course

Braised beef short ribs and pan seared Atlatic scallops served with Crum’s Heirloom Farm roasted sweet corn and pepper succotash with apricot puree and a quail egg

Fourth Course

Jude’s rum cake and house made maple ice cream

Our own Chef Michael of The Farmhouse along with Chef Jennifer of Café Sebastienne would like to invite you to join them for a collaborative wine dinner featuring the wines of Margerum of Santa Barbara. Winemaker Jason Barette will be on hand to guide us through the wines as we enjoy four delicious food courses paired with four wines. It’s $65 a person plus Tax and gratuity, on Tuesday July 9th. Restaurant Week is Coming!

The Farmhouse will be participating in Kansas City Restaurant Week this year! We are excited to be able to put together a special menu to showcase what The Farmhouse has to offer.  Our special lunch will feature two courses for $15 and dinner will be comprised of 3 courses for $30.

Restaurant week will run from Friday, January 21st to Sunday, January 30th.  A menu will be coming soon!
