The Farmhouse, Green Dirt Farms & Terra Vox Collaboration Dinner!

Terra Vox and Green Dirt Farm Present: the Chef at the Vineyard Series

Terra Vox’s Chef at the Vineyard Series is an opportunity to fully experience the terroir or local essence of our region. The series brings featured chefs from the Kansas City area to the vineyard for an exploration of local cuisine, food culture, and wines made from our American Heritage Grapes.

This inaugural series is a special collaboration with Green Dirt Farm. These dinners bring together the fantastic sheep’s milk cheeses of Green Dirt Farm and Terra Vox’s unique wines for a fascinating food experience featuring local seasonal ingredients.

Each dinner features five courses prepared right in front of you, each paired with five carefully chosen wines. The Farmhouse will be part of the inaugural dinners on April 11th. The event begins at 6pm, with a special reception and tour from 6-7pm and the dinner itself beginning promptly at 7pm.

If you have been part of our previous collaborations with Green Dirt Farms, you will love to be part of this magnificent night!

MatchsellersDecember 11: The Matchsellers
The unlikely result of a classically trained violinist from Kansas City, MO (Julie Bates) & a Chicago blues guitarist from Warsaw, IN (Andrew Morris) meeting in Leipzig, Germany, and forming a bluegrass duo. During their year of living and working as expats in the former East Germany, the pair began re-analyzing the songs of their homeland, and developed a tight ,yet gritty, bluegrass style.

December 18: Kasey RauschKasey-Rausch_rooster
An award-winning 4th-generation musician who plays and writes Americana-rooted music, Kasey Rausch is celebrating the recent release of her latest album, “Guitar in Hand”.  Kasey also co-hosts River Trade Radio on KKFI 90.1 FM.

Happy Thanksgiving Kansas City!

We are incredibly thankful for all of our staff members, our guests, our neighbors, and of course, our hard working farmers. The Farmhouse would not be able to exist without all of you. Thank you for making our service possible by supporting us day in and day out. Let’s continue keeping it farm to table, tip to tail, seasonal, & local.

Thank you!!!

Midcoast Roots Thursdays at The Farmhouse!

We’re excited to announce a new music series here at The Farmhouse — Midcoast Roots Thursdays! During our Thursday dinner service, starting at 6:00 p.m., we’ll be showcasing a different local musician or band playing music that hearkens to our roots.  Americana, folk, country&western, blues, internationally-influenced — all those things which jive so beautifully with our own aesthetic.

For the month of August, we’ll have:

Betse-EllisAugust 7 — Betse Ellis
Badass fiddler and Ozark fireball Betse Ellis brings an edgy fire to every note she bows, strums, sings, or shouts. Part old-time celebrant and part contemporary songwriter, Betse blends traditional source material with her own original works.

Derin-TrioAugust 14 — The Derin Trio
Take a tour around the world with songs you will not hear anywhere else in Kansas City, from Turkey to Brazil, jazz to gypsy music with vocalist/guitarist Nihan Yesil, guitarist Jordan Shipley, & bassist Brian Padavic.

ShortleafAugust 21 — Shortleaf
A music duo from Missouri with strong ties to the traditions of the Ozarks, Michael Fraser & Tenley Hansen specialize in high-energy music rooted in celtic and old time traditions.

Please come on by for dinner on Thursdays, enjoy wonderful farm-to-fork eats and drinks, and help us support awesome local talent — and if you know of an awesome musician or small group which might be a good fit for Roots Thursdays at The Farmhouse, please let Season (season@EatAtTheFarmhouse.com) know.  Thanks!

Mermaids! Sailors! What?

This month’s Wine Walk on Delaware had Farmhouse employees in all their nautical finery — probably the two best outfits being sported by our dear Taylor and Haley, a sailor and mermaid, respectively.

That’s right.  We know how to throw a party here at The Farmhouse.  🙂

Local Food + Local Lumber = A Win for KC!

Yesterday we had the privilege of catering the VIP reception and open house for the new Urban Lumber Company, a project of Missouri Organic.

Tim & Tony showing off the new sign for The Urban Lumber Co.

We had a beautiful buffet set up for the crowd, including roasted Spring veggie turnovers, fried green tomato sliders, Spring garlic stuffed goat cheese crisps, and smoked mushrooms on grilled French bread.  We rounded out the buffet with beautiful platters of olives and nuts, and local artisanal cheeses accompanied by our house-made crackers.  So delicious — and everything went beautifully with the McCoys brews on tap!  🙂

It was great to meet the diverse crowd of attendees throughout the evening — there were Woodworking Guild members, hobbyists, contractors and builders, fellow local-foodies, even a handful of firemen!

*ahem*

There were some amazing wood specimens on display, all milled at The Urban Lumber Co. — everything from Ash to Walnut — some with gorgeous live edges and some ready-to-go planks.  And the passion exhibited by the Missouri Organic and Urban Lumber Co. crews for the work they do was inspiring.  They’ve got some amazing projects going, and we look forward to partnering with them again in the future!
