Labor Day Schedule

closed It is Labor Day weekend!  The Farmhouse will be closed on labor day, Monday September 5th, as we do every year, so our staff can take a very well deserved break and have a wonderful bonding trip down to a wonderful lake.  We will be taking advantage of this weekend to also do some needed upgrades to our beloved Farmhouse and so we will also be closed on Tuesday, September 6th.

We look forward to reopen for business on Wednesday for lunch!  Happy Labor Day!

We thank our Farmers on this Labor Day.

Farmers labor day

We wouldn’t be who we are without the incredible work and dedication from all of our farmers! While we are resting, they are hard at work harvesting the goods that we’ll cook for our guests, and planting the seeds for the bounty for the seasons to come.

The Farmhouse would like to thank all of our farmers who have made us who we are, and who have become our partners throughout this wonderful, culinary adventure.

Please support our farmers by being part of their CSA, volunteering your time, donating money or materials, purchasing their goods at Farmers Market, spreading the word about their wonderful and hard work, giving them a hug, a smile and a sincere “Thank you!”!

TBT: KC on KC: Farm to Table

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series TBT

We sometimes do jump on the #ThrowBackThursday bandwagon, and we thought that today was one of those days.  Remember that wonderful little short video directed by Mr. Anthony Ladesich for Visit KC, which featured two of our wonderful farms: Gibbs Rd. Community Farms/Cultivate Kansas City and Wood Mood? Of course, it featured our very own Chef Michael Foust and our beloved The Farmhouse!

In case you missed the video, here is another chance to check it out!

It’s our birthday!! We’ll be CLOSED on the 4th of July!

H4th of July Free Printable Postcardsappy 4th of July everyone!!  This is quite a wonderful day! Isn’t it? We’re celebrating a wonderful birthday of a nation, as well as the birthday of our beloved restaurant!  The Farmhouse is now 7 years old!!

We will be CLOSED on the 4th of July  (just like every year), so our staff can enjoy the day with their loved ones.  Do you know someone who serves or has served this wonderful country of ours?? Give them a high-five! A hug, a handshake, a sincere “Thank You!”. It is thanks to brave people who have put themselves on the line of duty that we have what we have as an independent nation.

If you like fireworks, we hope you enjoy the displays that will be taking place all over our metro area!! And if you like to have your own… well, just make sure you keep all of your digits and extremities in tact, and that you keep in consideration that not everyone enjoys having loud “booms” at such proximity, keep in mind any veterans, anyone with PTSD, and of course pets that live around your home. Keep your pets inside and safe! 4th of July is one of the holidays with the highest number of pets running away from home because of all of the fireworks!! Keep them safe as well!

Anyway! We hope you enjoy the day, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow, Tuesday July 5th, for lunch!

We’ve made some changes to our Saturday schedule…

Nothing to worry about, just a heads up!  On Saturdays (and only Saturdays!) we will still be serving beverages from 3pm to 5pm, however, we will no longer be able to offer a bar food menu at that time.

Confused?  Here’s the Saturday scoop: We’ll serve brunch (food and beverages) from 9-3pm, from 3-6 we’ll have our bar open for beverages only, and starting at 5pm we’ll have our dinner menu with bar and food till 11pm.

With the high volume of guests at brunch, and going into happy hour (sometimes even with a Wine Walk going on!!), we noticed our staff (bar, servers and kitchen) weren’t able to fully prepare for our dinner service and were unable to dedicate all the needed time to go over our specials.  That would then mean our serves were not be able to provide the best quality service we know they are capable of, because our kitchen staff could not spare any time to explain them since we had so many food orders coming in from our bar menu.

Our doors will still be open! We will still be giving you delicious cocktails and refreshing beers… though we will need to wait till 5pm for our dinner menu.

If you have any questions, please let us know! you can call us at 816-569-6032 or email us at info@eatatthefarmhouse.com

Reservation Changes Taking Effect on April 1st, 2016.  What you need to know.

Starting on April 1st, The Farmhouse will start working with OpenTable’s partner BrainTree in order to take, in a secure and PCI compliant manner, credit card information for any parties of 10 or more, as well as for any reservation, regardless of the number of guests, on:  Valentines Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers’ Day and New Years Eve.
Our goal is to provide guests the best quality food, beverage and service during their visit, and we have sadly seen an increase in the number of “No Shows” (reservations that are made and not honored without giving a call to notify us of a need to cancel the reservation).  These “No Shows” mean that we are holding tables for guests and thus unable to move along with our pacing of other reservations and walk-ins, for parties that did not show up.  This trend has damaged the perception of our quality of service, and so we will join other restaurants in the area and start charging a “No Show” fee of $25.00.   This fee will be applied to any party that does not cancel their reservation (either by logging into their OT account or by giving us a call and speaking with someone directly) with at least 24 hrs advance notice.  There will be no fees charged for guests who honor their reservation or cancel with 24 hrs advance notice.

Why are you doing this?  We have seen an increasing number of guests who have made reservations with us (and other restaurants) and then either have to cancel or decide to go to another restaurant, without notifying us in advance for their need to cancel their reservation with us.  Thus, other guests have been unable to make a reservation because we have been fully-booked, or our walk-in guests have been unable to be seated because we are still honoring those tables for guests who will not be showing up.  Additionally, holding tables for reservations who “No Show” directly affect our server’s tips, as well as the restaurant’s flow.   We hope this will deter those guests who were not serious about joining us to begin with or those who did not give us proper notice, from taking away seating from guests like you, who want to join us and dine with us, but we’re at full capacity.

How do I cancel a reservation? You can cancel your reservation via OpenTable by logging into your account, and making changes through your upcoming reservations.  You can also cancel your reservation by calling us with at least 24 hours notice at (816) 569-6032 and speaking with someone directly.  Please be sure to speak with someone over the phone, and do not leave a voicemail as we don’t get to check our voicemail daily.  Please remember: We do close at 3:00 Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.

Will I be charged $25.00 every time I make a reservation?  Not at all!! We will only take CC information for any party of 10 or more guests, and for any reservation (regardless of the size) on the five holidays above.  You will not be charged any fee just because you made a reservation! Also, if you cancel your reservation with due notice (24 hours in advance) either by logging into your OpenTable account, or by giving us a call, we will not charge you any fee.  The fees will apply for those “No Show” parties who straight-out do not show up or who do not cancel their reservation with at least 24 hours advance notice.

Ultimately, our goal is to ensure the best service possible for you, whether you are joining us with a planned reservation or impromptu as a walk-in.  We do not want your experience at The Farmhouse to be negatively affected because of a 3rd party.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have in regards to this.

FAQ #3: Um, do you have parking?? Where can I park??

This entry is part 4 of 4 in the series FAQ

Wonder no more! There are plenty parking options within blocks from The Farmhouse!

River Market Parking FH

We get it, if you’re not familiar with the River Market, knowing where to park may be confusing, specially if you are not familiar with the Streetcar!

Luckily there are plenty parking spots and parking lots withing walking distance, and we are here to help you find them! Our friends at Visit KC created this handy little map detailing the parking lots in the area (Grayed out with the “P” sign in them) and the number of parking spots available in each parking lot. As you can see, there are about 875 spots available in the parking lots located no more than 4 blocks from The Farmhouse, plus don’t forget about street parking!

Parallel Street Parking

You can find plenty of parallel street parking along Wyandotte Street, 5th Street, and 3rd Street.  Also, keep in mind that from Delaware St to Grand Street, between 3rd Street and 5th Street, you will need to park all of your vehicle within the white lines, in order to not block the street car’s path.  You can find more info on the KC Streetcar website.

Reverse-Angled Parking

You can also find parking on Delaware Street! Delaware Street is a one way street going from North to South, and has reverse-angled parking to ensure drivers will be able to see oncoming traffic as well as an oncoming streetcar.  If you are unsure as to how to park on Delaware Street, check out this handy video!

Please be aware of time limits (if any) set for the block you have parked, and unless you have the proper permits/plates, please do not park on the spots designated for our handicapped guests!

See you soon!!
